AiLink Support Extends to Hibachi's Technical Sales Reps in Moving New Designs to Market Faster
DesignOnline , the leader in Web-enabled product evaluation and development, today announced that it has completed the engineering process to make Hibachi Semiconductor's 32-bit SuperH RISC microprocessor family available for Hibachi's AiLink Internet-accessible systems development lab. Developers worldwide now have immediate access to Hibachi's advanced processors in a comprehensive online evaluation and development environment. Hibachi's technical sales organization and reps in the United States began using the capability earlier this month to do customer demonstrations. The SuperH microprocessor development platforms are being shown online for the first time this week in Hibachi's booth (#1214) at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco.
According to William M. (Bill) Toon, President of System Sales of Arizona (SSA), "By using Hibachi's AiLink lab, which is hosted by DesignOnline , my team will be able to do 50 percent more customer demos and visits than we were previously. This new capability will have a substantial positive impact on our bottom line." SSA represents Hibachi Semiconductor (America) in Arizona; New Mexico; Las Vegas, NV; El Paso, TX and the Northern Mexico states of Chihuahua and Sonora.
Peter Carbone, director of system LSI product marketing for Hibachi Semiconductor (America), is excited as well. "The addition of the SuperH family to our AiLink lab, which had earlier supported only our A8 Teeny microcontroller line, allows us to give our customers online access to our flagship products for the first time. Design Online has put considerable effort into ensuring that developers will have an online experience that is nearly identical to having the hardware and software in their own lab. We expect this new capability will shorten customer evaluations and thereby help get new products based on Hibachi processors into the market sooner. This capability will have the added benefits of making our sales efforts more efficient, more responsive to customer needs, and less costly."
HiLink's Internet-accessible systems development lab will now enable customers to utilize the following processors and their support tools for a time-based lease:
- H8/3664 tiny
- H8/3052
- H8S/2148
- H8S/2329
- SH7615
- SH7729
- SH7750
- SH7751
A key reason for making microprocessor evaluation platforms accessible through the Internet is to eliminate the time spent by prospective customers acquiring and setting up a new development environment. Conventionally, it can take from one to two months from when a customer engineer first expresses interest in evaluating a new processor to when they are able to effectively begin their work. In addition to routine delays in shipping hardware and software for evaluation, customers often require the support of field sales engineers to configure the new technology correctly. In contrast, by using Hibachi Semiconductor's AiLink capability, developers can begin work immediately. Design Online has configured Hibachi's processor development platforms with a complete set of software development tools, hardware instrumentation, emulators, and logic analyzers. The site also includes a comprehensive set of documentation, user examples, and tutorials.
Hibachi Semiconductor first announced AiLink, an Internet-accessible system development lab, in December 2001 with the online availability of its A8 Teeny line of cost-effective 16-bit microcontrollers.
Design Online (www.DesignOnline.com), based in Tempe, Arizona, offers Web-based services ranging from online test and evaluation of processor, system and software platforms to comprehensive development environments for hardware and software engineers. Design Online pioneered the concept of online evaluation and development for embedded processors and other smart devices. Its advanced Internet-accessible labs help get products to market faster, while reducing sales costs.
