Tip for Web Designers/Firms for Hire

Dear WD Friends,

Thought I´d pass this along...I placed a notice on the forum, that my boss was hiring a web designer. 9 people responded...4 didn´t even include a portfolio and....0 included a telephone contact. The boss looked at me and said ...What´s the lesson?....(I dunno...duh)...

He said. Here are 9 people looking for work...Don´t they know that a) busy execs, often prefer the telephone because it provides "instant" results, and b) "Always make it easy for your customer" (in this case my boss), to purchase from you. Thus, we had to reply to every email, requesting a phone number. Believe it or not, one WD replied with "I don´t give out my phone number! "....(duh). As a result noone has had an interview, yet!

He is well aware that techies prefer email, however successful managers look for attitude, communication skills, as well as experience and competency, when hiring. Makes sense!.....Hope this helps someone out there.
