I have recently launched my new freelance site www DOT bigthinkagency DOT com when I was laid off of my graphics job!

I am needing some good advice on how to get ranked in Google and Yahoo for keywords that apply to Oklahoma Website Designer and other variations. I am a designer, not an SEO brain so I need to pick somebodies!! Very Happy No noses allowed, though, sorry. Cool

Thanks to all in advance!

Have clean coded pages with search engine friendly links. To check for errors or broken links, you can use w3c's html and link validators.

Build content on your pages using Well-designed Web Pages

The article I mentioned above highlights some of the basics for understanding search engines.

For Google SERPs, get as many qualified backlinks as you can from relevant websites (relevant to Oklahoma, Web Design or Oklahoma Web Design).

For Yahoo, submit your site to DMOZ. Since Yahoo/Inktomi/Overture/MSN value keyword density, you should include keywords within the main content of your pages.

Rule of Thumb
You should design your pages for human usability / user experience. Like the saying goes, you can lead a camel to water; but it doesn't mean the camel will drink. Even if you have your desired search engine rankings, you need to convince your visitors that you are superier to other designers, trustworthy, reliable and offer what they need.

I took a look at your site through Google's cache and you're not using header tags in your Web Design.

The main content of your pages are burried beneath css and javascript declarations which diminishes the weight of your main content.

Each page contains the same legal notice in the footer which further diminishes the weight of your pages (since all of your pages have the same content). This footer section makes up more than 50% of the bulk of your visible content.
